This is our apartment building. We live on the 9th floor. The building is all concrete inside with marble floors and ceramic floors in the bathroom and kitchen. Its a nice size apartment and the best thing is that its not shared with anyone else!
There is a grocery right outside the front door. There are actually 3 on our block. they carry a little bit of everything. Nice to get groceries, etc. without driving anywhere.

This is the view from our patio doors. There are no paved roads, just sand. Lots of potholes so cars have to go slow.

This mosque is directly below our patio doors. It's speakers provide us with a very early wake up call.

Here are some before and after pics of out living room. We made some curtains and bought some plants. It really brightened the place up!

More Kites...and video!

This is a good view of the kites over the parking lot. Look at the size of
those kites!

This Kite looked so pretty against the blue sky

Kites at the Beach

We went to the beach with a picnic lunch. Gene remembered that we sometimes see one or two big kites flying by the exit for 6th ring road.

We
decided to take our picnic there. Boy did we get a big surprise!!

There were at least a couple dozen HUGE kites and they were so amazing to look at.

Camping in the Desert

We drove into the desert to look for some camels.

Sand...lots of sand.

and oil pipelines.

The roads were surprisingly good and there were many signs warning of drifting sand.

This guy was keeping his herd of sheep off the road.

This guy was shaggy!

We saw many, many camels. Most were grazing, but we saw some walking and even saw some running!

This is a mom and baby camel. I wish we could have been a little closer!

This White Camel is very valuable.

The Kuwaiti people camp out in the desert in the spring when the weather is mild. There are tents everywhere as far as the eye can see. Here are a couple of shots.

Birds @ the Zoo

This is an African Crowned Crane. It posed like a supermodel!

Such a regal bird!

Vultures! These birds are the biggest I've ever seen! They are enormous.

This peacock and many more were sharing a large tree-filled enclosure with many little deer. They looked happy there.

The colors on this macaw were so bright and beautiful!

More Zoo!

The train was very popular. It was filled with families all day long!

This is NOT the zoom lens!!! The Cheetah took a leap upon the ledge of his enclosure. I would have had to lean over to touch the fence, but Gene could have easily petted him as he strolled by. Everything is so close! We couldn't believe we were THIS CLOSE to a cheetah!

Good looking Antlers! This enclosure was not labeled so I'm not so sure what this guy is but we really liked this photo.

This guy was throwing peanuts to the elephant. Some peanuts landed inside the enclosure and some landed outside. No problem, those trunks can pick up anything!

I especially like the wall behind this leggy giraffe!

This little Lemur was so cute I wanted to take him home in my pocket!

Some of these Mountain Goats were eating leaves that people were sticking through the fence. This guy was uninterested and was just sitting in the sun.

The Kuwait Zoo is Awesome!

These lions were sleepy. Look at the size of those paws!

We went to the zoo yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day; the warmest day so far. The zoo was a little different from back home, the biggest difference being the people FEED THE ANIMALS EVERYTHING!!! Seriously, they were feeding baboons apples, bananas, peanuts, and yes, even potato chips!! There are do not feed the animals signs scattered about, but no enforcement.

Here is a look at the baboons.
